Jati Tujuh (2025)

Dance by Razan Wirosandjojo

Music by Sean Hayward

Jati Tujuh explores the double meaning of jati in Indonesian: teak tree and self-knowledge. The phrase “mencari jati diri” (searching for identity) is taken literally as searching for the teak within oneself. The tree becomes a mirror for understanding existence, not by accumulating, but by stripping away the layers covering the core. Identity as we know it, name, race, nationality, gender, social status, is understood as temporary form that dissolves over time.
